Dr. Derek Miller, DDS, was raised in Colorado Springs and graduated from Colorado Springs Christian High School. After completing a year at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, he transferred to the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. “Dr. Derek,” as his patients call him, then attended dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Derek received numerous awards during dental school, including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s Predoctoral Student Award and acceptance into the honorary dental fraternity Omicron Kappa Upsilon. This distinction is reserved only for the top 10% of graduating dental students. After graduating Summa Cum Laude, Dr. Derek was immediately accepted into his pediatric residency at the UT Health Science Center. Dr. Derek’s research on a cavity-preventing medication was awarded “First Place” among all resident research at the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s annual meeting during his second year of residency.

Dr. Derek and his wife moved back to Colorado Springs in 2009, and he opened Cool Mountain Kids Pediatric Dentistry in 2015. He is honored to be able to provide exceptional, personalized dental care to the children of the Pikes Peak region. Dr. Derek married his childhood sweetheart over 23 years ago, and the two enjoy raising their four young kids in the community they group up in. He and his family love Colorado sports, the Texas Longhorns, and enjoying the Rocky Mountains as much as they can.
