I am a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who has had the pleasure of treating and serving the Colorado Springs community since 2009. I am originally from Georgia where I went to undergraduate and medical school. I did my orthopaedic training in Los Angels and sports medicine fellowship in Salt Lake City. I have always embraced the mountain lifestyle enjoying hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and fly fishing. In addition, I have taken up playing guitar, golf, and enjoy attending live musical concerts. When not working, I spend most of my time with my wife (when she is not working as an emergency room physician), children, and our dog, Boss, who loves carbs and being mischievous.
I am a fellowship trained sports medicine surgeon with a particular interest in treating both simple and complex disorders of the shoulder and knee. However, I’m happy to see anyone regarding their orthopedic needs no matter the location of their injury. I have a particular interest in minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques for conditions such as ligament, cartilage, tendon, and labral injuries. I am also comfortable with open approaches when needed to address complex disorders such as fractures, cartilage restoration, instability, limb realignment, multi-ligament injuries, shoulder replacement, and revision surgeries. Even though I enjoy the art and complexity of surgery, I typically recommend conservative treatment such as bracing, therapy, medications, supplements, and various types of injections.
My approach to medicine is to treat the patient as I would my friends or family. I prefer to discuss the diagnosis and treatment options in a direct and clear manner then allow and assist the patient to make his or her own decision. My goal is to inform and educate the patient so that they may choose the best conservative or surgical path of care they desire.
Alongside my sports medicine partners, Dr. Jamie Friedman, Dr. Christopher Jones, Dr. Richard Stockelman, and Dr. Craig Yager, Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group (CSOG) Sports Medicine Center offer the latest advancements and have helped thousands of Coloradans get back to the activities they love to do. In addition, CSOG encompasses 16 fellowship trained orthopedic physicians specializing in a variety of conditions including foot and ankle, hand and upper extremity, spine, sports medicine, and joint replacement. With a walk-in orthopaedic express care clinic, imaging services, surgery center, Audubon orthotic and prosthetic, physical and occupational therapy, CSOG has you covered every step of the way.
