Dr. Michael Kunkel, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, founded Pikes Peak Oral Surgery in 2013. Dr. Trent Listello retired from the Air Force after 20 years and joined the practice in 2020.

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons receive comprehensive training in surgical procedures and general anesthesia. This training allows us to safely and comfortably perform removal of wisdom teeth, placement of dental implants, treatment of facial trauma, and management of oral and facial pathology.

As a dental implant center, we often perform complex implant and bone-grafting procedures, which are made more comfortable with our in-office anesthesia. Many nervous patients, who would otherwise avoid receiving necessary care because of fear and anxiety, are able to achieve better health with the aid of these anesthesia options.

Our practice always strives to incorporate the newest and best technologies available in our field. For this reason, we became the first practice in Colorado to use robotic technology to perform more accurate and safer dental implant procedures. Yomi Robotics allows us to place an implant with superior accuracy, while avoiding adjacent, high-risk anatomical structures. We have performed hundreds of procedures using this technology, and we are proud to be one of the leading robotic innovators in the country.

When a patient comes into my office, my goal is to understand the experience from his or her perspective and to make that process as easy and comfortable as possible.  Let’s face it; no one enjoys having a surgical procedure. At Pikes Peak Oral Surgery, our goal is to make sure that every patient’s experience is completed in a safe and comfortable environment by a team that truly cares about its patients.  One of the best compliments we get routinely from our patients is, “I am so relieved.
