Patrick Mika

Pat Mika has devoted the last 43 years to making a difference in the lives of people accused of crimes throughout the country.

Mika was the 2014 president of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers (ABCL). Considered to be the most prestigious criminal defense organization in the country, ABCL membership requires the highest standards of excellence and a proven winning trial record to include:  victories in 5 first-degree murder cases, 35 major felony trials, the endorsement of 3 judges, and the unanimous vote of the executive committee.

Mika graduated magna cum laude with an English degree from the University of Arkansas in 1979 and was awarded membership in Phi Beta Kappa honorary fraternity.  He obtained his Juris Doctor degree at the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1982. In 1987, he graduated from the National Criminal Defense College for advanced trial training.

Mika relocated to Colorado Springs to train at the Olympic Training Center for the 1984 Olympics.  He was a member of the US National Judo Team from 1981-1985.

In 1990, he started Mika & Associates, P.C., specializing in defending serious, felony criminal cases.  For the past 11 years the law firm has been successfully representing individuals seriously injured in motorcycle, automobile and trucking accidents.

“I grew up with parents who taught me the significance of individual freedom and the fragility of that concept.  I found my passion in defending those who were powerless in protecting themselves from an overreaching government and powerful insurance companies.  These groups are the schoolyard bullies of the legal system.  My job is to run the bullies off the playground.”

Mika’s cases have been featured in novels, movies, Oprah Winfrey,  20/20, Homicide Hunter, Snapped and in People magazine. He is a life member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, and the Colorado Bar.
