Terence Doherty

Mr. Doherty’s practice specializes in business and corporate law, real estate, and estate planning. In 1989, Mr. Doherty received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Connecticut, where he majored in economics and was captain of the UConn lacrosse team. From 1989 to 1997, Mr. Doherty worked in the areas of real estate, estate planning, and corporations. In 1997, Mr. Doherty graduated from Whittier Law School, where he was (1) a member of the school’s Law Review, (2) authored a paper that was published, and (3) was a member of the school’s National Moot Court Team—a combination of achievements accomplished by less than 1% of all law students nationwide. In 1997, Mr. Doherty was hired as associate in-house counsel for an international semiconductor company headquartered in Colorado Springs and was promoted to general counsel and chief operating officer in 1998, positions that he held until 2002 when he went into private law practice. Mr. Doherty’s work experiences from 1989 to 2002 gave him a rare, hands-on business background that sets him apart from other attorneys in Colorado Springs and enables him to provide business owners and managers with high-quality, practical legal advice. In 2002, Mr. Doherty joined a prestigious local law firm as an associate. In 2006, Mr. Doherty formed the Doherty Law Firm, PC. Mr. Doherty is a sole practitioner because he likes to provide personalized legal services directly to clients. In 2010, Mr. Doherty received the “Volunteer of the Year” award from the University of Colorado–Small Business Development Center at the statewide level over hundreds of other volunteers. In 2015, Mr. Doherty won The Gazette’s “Best of the Springs” contest among all attorneys in Colorado Springs and is honored to have now been voted as a “Top Attorney” by his peers for ten (10) years in a row.
